21 Months Old!

Well, I pretty much document all of Ellison's quirks, activities, favorites, etc. as I go along. BUT, it wouldn't be me if I didn't write at least a small book for the occasion. :) I'm going to insert a disclaimer of sorts here: This blog is not only for our loved ones who don't get to experience Ellison in person, but also for the sake of keeping track of all of these things since I can't imagine I'll ever get around to making a scrapbook. There, I feel better now...

Ellison is still loving coloring, drawing, puzzles, dancing, books, cleaning, and just about any other activity. She's always asking to ride her bike (with her "helmeet"), and do just about anything outside. Though she's always enjoyed going to the pool, she now asks to go ALL the time - even before bed - since her love of "swimming" took off. She even tries "swimming" on the carpet - it's quite funny. She's all about climbing onto everything, much to our horror at times. She could spend hours in our front yard picking at the flowers, if only the "'squitos" wouldn't like her so much. She wants to put on & take off items of clothing or shoes all by herself... Do you know how hard it is for a control freak (not speaking of our beloved) to sit there and just smile & watch, as you see your little biscuit's two legs going into one pant leg???

She's talking so many more phrases now, and I swear I have a little tape recorder around me all day long. She repeats everything, and imitates just about everything we do, much to our delight and dismay. :)

Yes, her love for the Wiggles and Curious George continues, but she's really starting to take a little interest in "Bob the Builder", "Little Bill", and "Max & Ruby" suddenly. These do not compare to the aforementioned ones, however. There is one other DVD that she asks for now, it's the HBO Classical Baby DVD. We've been playing it for her before bed because it's so calming (Mommy & Daddy wake up startled and drooling to Mookie making toast in the kitchen), and there's one little skit on it where an animated cow sings opera. Ellison stands up in our lap, and moves her mouth (think an opera-shaped mouth), and will try to belt out those high notes. It is SO cute! Then she continues swaying gently to the rest of the skits/songs.
Fave foods are "noodles", "'roni & cheese", "bread" and crackers. Thankfully she loves some fruits & veggies, but we're at that point where she will not try ANY new foods. My taste buds are bored just thinking about her diet, but hey, she apparently doesn't mind.

She has a love/hate relationship with Bo as she gets older. When we go on our evening family walks, Ellison has a fit if we don't let her stroller be right next to Bo where she can reach out her hand to pet him and keep repeating, "Goo' (good) boy". Other times, if she happens to drop a coveted noodle on the floor during a meal, she immediately says, "Boey" (for him to come & eat it up). Because he's so big, she doesn't like standing by herself around him; he has no awareness of little people, so he just plows into her. So when this starts to happen, or if he's begging, she'll take it upon herself to command, "Doe (Go) on, Boey!" as she waves her arm forcefully.

This past month we've seen more blood coming from Ellison's little knees than ever. You can tell she's a toddler - always seems to have abrasions on her lower half, which has brought about her fascination with BandAids (Hello Kitty ones, to be exact). After wasting 3/4 of a box on the little suckers, and after Ellison constantly wanted the BandAid either "on" or "off", I've had to get creative, depending on whether she truly needs a BandAid or not. If she does, I have to tell her the owie needs to go night-night, and then she's fine with having it on. If she wants one on, and she doesn't need one anymore, I tell her the owie wants to see the sunshine. So as my reward for being so creative, I now get to hear "No AndBaid (that's how she says it) on... sunshine", repeated over and over and over. And over.

Ellison's new way of telling us she loves us, is for her to wrap her little arms around any part of our body, and say, "......SOOOOO much!!!", while she pats us.

OK, I told you it'd be another book... :)
