Update on Papa
Thank you to those of you who have been praying for Ellison's Papa - we appreciate it so much!!! I am thrilled to report that today he is doing so much better! When I talked to him on the phone Sunday night, his speech was slurred because he was so weak - it was absolutely awful. Yesterday he started to show some improvement, and today he sounds really good. We are so thankful the worst-case scenario possibilities didn't pan out (I'll leave out the details of what's been going on or else I could type a book). He seems to finally be responding to the antibiotics, and he may even get to go home tomorrow. One of the unfortunate things with all of this, is the weather in Michigan. The hospital he had his surgery in is 2 hours away from their house, and the hospital he's in right now is 40 minutes away. They have been absolutely slammed with snow and horrible conditions, which has made life tough for my mom, who has been trying to go back-and-forth. For those of you who don't know, my parents live out in the country - roads get really bad. As they are bracing for another 8 inches over the next couple of days, certainly we're all worried about the drive home for my dad if they discharge him tomorrow. If they get stuck, or even in a fender-bender, that would be awful considering my dad has limited mobility now & has to use a walker. So please pray for safety with the travels for my parents (and aunts, uncles, and my siblings who have been helping). My poor mom - I have to tell you - what a trooper. When she brought my dad home from the hospital the first time (after being away from home for almost 7 days), they came home to a flooded basement. Over the last 2 days, the garbage disposal and the garage door both broke! I tell ya... like Mom says, "If you didn't laugh, you'd just cry...". Thanks again, for your care and concern!
