Answered Prayers

Oh, thank you, Almighty God, for answering the prayers of so many praying for Ellison. I know that You don't have to answer prayers the way we want them to be, and that You still love us and know what is best for us even during those times. But, oh, how grateful we are that Your will is that Ellison is healthy at this time!

We finally got the results of the last bit of Ellison's blood work this past Friday, and all praise and glory be to God, the diabetes antibody screen was negative!!! This means that Ellison does not have diabetes now, and she is at no more of an increased risk for developing it than you or I or anyone else! We find it a miracle. With the intermittent symptoms of the past year, with our pediatrician and endocrinologist both saying they thought she was going down that path, we're thrilled and relieved that's not the case. My mom wondered aloud why Ellison was then having these bizarre symptoms, but you know what? I told her God has given us this gift right now, and I don't want to take that away from Him. As much as our human minds want an explanation (and believe me, I'd love one), not everything needs to be explained. He cannot be explained. If we start trying to dig further when everything is so vague right now, that takes our focus off of glorifying Him in this process we have been through. For right now, in this moment of time, we have a healthy daughter, and I don't want to discount that. If things continue to keep happening medically with her, then we'll deal with that, but for right now, we're just trusting. As for the sleep issues and irritability, perhaps it is simply a phase we're having to work through at her age. :-)
