Trick-Or-Treat

Trick-or-treating was SO much fun this year. Ellison was lit up like a Christmas tree. We literally couldn't keep up with her. Her little legs were going so fast from house to house that it looked like she was floating in her wedding dress. We have a great neighborhood to trick-or-treat in; sometimes it feels like a wandering block party. Jonathan kept fretting because we didn't put the candy bowl outside while we were out, and I kept telling him, "Who cares?". This conversation went on about every 5 minutes, no joke. Last year we didn't put one out, and when we got home we still had trick-or-treaters coming (I forgot it wasn't a school night last year, either). The only thing I didn't anticipate was Ellison's stamina and desire to continue on. By the time we got home, we only had a couple of stragglers to pass out candy to. Oops. Anyone want some candy???

Someone gave Jonathan the idea of dressing up to be Ellison's groom. While that thought didn't settle well with him, he did decide to pull out his tux and be the father of the bride. What a good Daddy...

Pumpkins

Another day, a recharged camera battery. The results of the 2010 Soto pumpkin carving:

The big pumpkin in the middle is my fave. :-)

So check out how awesome her pumpkin is! The one she drew completely by herself and Daddy carved exactly the way she drew it...

Here comes a ridiculous amount of pumpkin pics, but I had to show the play-by-play of how Ellison has taken to modeling lately. After each click of the camera, she molds her little bod into yet another pose. Trying to figure out if she learned it by watching "Barbie in a Fashion Fairytale", but not sure.

Pumpkin Carving

It finally came time to carve our pumpkins. Ellison was very excited. As soon as I took off the top, she got pretty grossed out. ;-)

Ha! I love it. Her expression is the best... She wanted no part of digging her hands in to help me separate out the seeds. She did not want to touch any of the insides.

So Ellison got a big spoon with a very long handle to do her dirty work while Mommy carefully separated the seeds for the yummiest part of carving pumpkins - roasting pumpkin seeds.

Daddy had the grunt work of doing the actual carving.

Much to my disappointment, the camera ran out of batteries at this point. But Ellison got to claim a pumpkin, and Daddy had her draw the face on exactly how she wanted it to be carved. And he cut it out in the exact pattern she drew it - it turned out great! She did an awesome job. The pics would have to wait for tomorrow, though... (grrr)

After School Shoot

A photographer I am not. The shadowing stinks in these shots, but it was such a beautiful fall day when we got home from her class party. Ellison just wanted to be outside in the driveway.

She kept tiptoeing down the "path", and would get annoyed when the wind would move her "path".

I never thought I'd get her to change into regular clothes to go outside to ride her bike, but she finally obliged. She put her own Halloween barrettes in her hair, too.

After Daddy got home, and had been digging through Halloween stuff in the attic for some reason, she HAD to have his old Zorro costume. The panties definitely complete the look.

We completely forgot about the Mrs. Potato Head lips! We took them away from Ellison a year or two ago because she always had them in her mouth, which can't be good for the teeth. We hid them, and I guess Daddy found them in with the Halloween stuff. ???

Halloween Dance Class

The mini dancers were told they could wear their Halloween costumes to dance class. Unfortunately, a full-length wedding dress isn't terribly conducive to pirouetting or somersaults, so we had to dig through Ellison's stash to come up with an alternative. So here we have a little cheerleader with her friend, Cruella DeVille.

The little girls were getting so excited as they watched the class before them use glow sticks to dance in the dark. And Miss Adrienne didn't disappoint - they got to use them, too. They also got to use some little bean bags to balance and dance with. The Halloween dance class was definitely a hit.

Our Baby is Awfully Big...

Ellison is loving all of these things we've gotten out to wash and such in preparation for our baby. She loves hearing the stories of when she was a baby. She thought it was fun to apparently stuff her little bod into the infant car seat, too, to watch some cartoons. When I started commenting about it, she quickly pulled down the sunshade over her head, and found it funny. She kept asking Daddy to pick her up in it to swing her around a little.
