We had such a great evening trick-or-treating with Ellison. We had decided to dress her in the princess costume since we had such a difficult time with her flower hat flopping around her face the night before. She was so excited seeing all of the costumes, and thought it was so cool to walk around the neighborhood without a stroller.
Here is Ellison with our neighbors, the Fennels: Justin, Alyssa, Mason, & their cousin. Ellison LOVED holding hands with Alyssa.

Showing Laura (our neighbor) her pumpkin & holding it out for some candy.

We had been practicing all day how to knock on a door and say "Trick-or-treat!". Ellison would say it for practice all the way up to a door, and then she'd just stand there sweetly and silently. Once in a while she managed to whisper a "thank you" as she turned around to leave, but most of the time it was Mommy or Daddy repeating it without a little echo. She wasn't scared by any means, and seemed to enjoy herself, she just was not sure what the heck this was all about.

We didn't stay out long, so we headed home early so we could pass out some candy, too. As soon as we got home Ellison went on the sugar rush. She loved greeting the kids at the door while munching away on her own goodies, and we all enjoyed some apple cider to top out our autumn night.
Yesterday when Ellison woke up and spotted her (empty) pumpkin, she started crying out, "My candy! My candy!". So we're in the middle of a candy-weaning process every day. Mommy needs one more than little E, though! {October 31, 2008]
