Beach Day 3

Daddy went for early morning runs most of our beach days, while the rest of us did our typical "ease into the day". It's vacation, no? While G & G headed off to mass, the three of us headed back to the sand and surf.

Ellison LOVES elevators. She was always the first one to reach them so she could push the buttons (with knuckles, as Mommy taught her), and was so proud when she knew exactly which buttons to push without being told. By the end of the trip, she was holding her little pint-sized forearm in the way of the door to allow everyone to go out or in ahead of her while she "held" it open for us.

Daddy fresh off his morning jog.

Our condo had a great pool and kiddie pool. Ellison was always asking to go in the kiddie pool (until she discovered the fun of the big pool once someone was brave enough to get in the cold water with her - you're the best, Daddy).

In the afternoon, we took a water taxi over to Cape Lookout to hang.

Grandpapa and Mookie hands - complete with Silly Bandz.

Getting sleepy and hot while waiting for our boat ride.

No, Ellison isn't blocking her face from the wind, she's completely zonked out. Get this girl on a fast-moving boat and she's gone.

Grandma was so thrilled to have Ellison actually sleep in her arms. Hasn't happened since she was a baby, since Ellison always wanted Mommy or Daddy to rock her to bed when she was older, and let's face it - she just wasn't used to anybody but us. I can't believe those days are behind us. All of those times we told ourselves we shouldn't get her used to rocking her to sleep. And they're gone now. Life lesson learned.

After our sun-filled day, we went to eat at "The Crab Shack" for some yummy grub. It was a cozy little dive that made me want to belt out the tune of "The Edmund Fitzgerald". Yes, I know that's about Lake Michigan, but that song is just so... maritime. Does that make any sense?
