After a fun day, the three of us went out after dinner to go driving around scouting out pretty Christmas lights. We bundled up Ellison in her jammies & robe, cozied up with some hot cocoa and cider, and cranked on the Christmas lights, singing away Griswold-style. It was a good time. Ellison was enjoying herself so much, and kept shouting, "More balls! My favorite!". She gets it from me. (Oh goodness, that doesn't sound good). My favorite outdoor Christmas decorations are those big light balls that hang from the trees.
Yeah, talk about a lovely family outing - on the way home, on the Christmas music station, there was a commercial that we weren't paying attention to. At least Jonathan and I weren't. Wouldn't you know the commercial mentioned something about a "serial killer" (Merry Christmas.). "What's a serial killer?" Ummmmm... You wanna take this one, honey? After it was evident from the silence that neither of us wanted to, I decided to play dumb. "Oh, they're just talking about Cheerios, honey." I know, real brilliant. "But what's a killer? What's a serial killer?". Do you think she bought it? (insert eye rolling). At that point we just mumbled something about her not worrying about it and prayed like crazy she'd just drop it... Oy...
Here was a quick attempt at a 35 week shot. The token shot with Mookie giggling as she jumps in the way.
I was surprised Ellison took a particular fondness to watching "The Nutcracker" from the "Nutcracker" marathons going on TV from various famous ballet troupes. She was seriously glued to it, was following the story line better than her mother, and would completely imitate the moves and "acting" if you will. For a few days in a row that's what she wanted to watch and dance to. Good thing Santa put the "Barbie in The Nutcracker" DVD in her stocking this year. Now we're completely kicking ourselves for not taking her this year after having the full intention to do so. Next year for sure, baby.
Watching the ballet with her Daddy.
