A couple of friends have told us about taking their children to the dollar store every Christmas season to pick out and purchase a gift for the family members. I thought that was such a cute idea, so I asked Ellison if she'd like to do the same. She was so eager to pick out something for Daddy, and was very careful in her contemplation. First, she thought about a pair of sunglasses, then decided on a jingle bell thingy that hangs on the doorknob. Then she decided to exchange it for a game of checkers after remarking, "I bet Daddy would like to play this game with me." :-) She never waivered again.
When we got home, I cut her a piece of wrapping paper, and told her she should wrap it all by herself. Look at the amazing job she did!!! I swear the only thing I did was put my finger where she told me to as she taped away. She even wrote the label all by herself.
On Christmas Eve morning when we told her she could open one present from family, she insisted Daddy also open his gift from her. As she carried it up the stairs to him, she said, "I just know he's gonna love it!" So sweet...
